The Guide
One name on the door.
One person behind it.
Silmon doesn't employ guides, because Silmon is the guide. Every booking on this site, every tour, every airport pickup, every late night restaurant collection, is Silmon himself, in his own vehicle, on his own name.
He built the business on a simple conviction: the difference between a good day and an unforgettable one is who's in the driver's seat. A guide who knows that the mountain's tablecloth of cloud usually burns off by ten. Who knows which Kalk Bay kitchen still buys its fish off the morning boats. Who can tell you what District Six was, not just where it is.
Because he answers his own messages and plans his own routes, nothing gets lost between the promise and the day. What you discuss is what happens, and when the Cape's weather has other ideas, he's already replanned before your morning coffee.
Silmon takes a limited number of bookings so that no guest ever gets a rushed version of his city. If your dates are free, they're yours alone.
“I've had guides recite facts at me on four continents. Silmon is the first one who felt like an old friend who happened to know everything.”
Questions, answered
Before you ask
How far in advance should we book?
In high season (November to March), two to four weeks ahead is wise, Silmon only takes one booking per day. Off season, a few days' notice is usually enough, and last minute airport transfers are often possible. It never hurts to ask.
What happens if the weather turns?
Silmon watches the forecast like a fisherman. If the mountain is closed or the wind is up, he'll propose a reordered day the evening before or on the morning itself, the itinerary flexes so your day doesn't suffer.
Are entrance fees and meals included?
No, and that's deliberate. You pay park entries, cableway tickets, tastings and meals directly, at the till price, with no hidden markup. Silmon gives you an honest cost estimate for the whole day before you confirm.
Can you handle children, or guests with limited mobility?
Yes. Child seats are provided free, just share ages when you book. For guests who walk slowly or not far, Silmon plans routes with short distances, seated viewpoints and unhurried timing. Tell him what you need; he's seen most of it.
How do we pay?
Card, EFT, or major currencies in cash. A deposit secures multi day bookings; single days and transfers are settled on the day. You'll always have the price in writing first.
Come meet him properly.
The best introduction is a message. Tell Silmon your dates and he'll take it from there.
